Sri Lanka is facing increasing water stress due to a combination of environmental and social pressures.

Research shows that nearly 35.6% of Sri Lanka’s population faces water scarcity, particularly in the dry zone — where freshwater resources continue to deplete and communities struggle daily for safe drinking water.
In many of these areas, families walk long distances to collect unsafe water — leading to disease, economic hardship, and long-term health risks. Every drop of clean water changes a life.
