Safe Water. Stronger Lives. A Hopeful Future.
Across the world and here in Sri Lanka, millions of people still struggle to access clean, safe
drinking water, for families living in rural and drought-affected regions, water scarcity,
contamination, and poor sanitation threaten health, livelihoods, and education.
At Yarah Charity, we believe that access to clean water is a fundamental human right.
Our Water for All – Sri Lanka programme is dedicated to providing sustainable, safe, and
accessible water solutions for vulnerable communities — ensuring dignity, wellbeing, and a brighter future for every family.
Why Water Matters in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is facing increasing water stress due to:
● Erratic rainfall & prolonged droughts
● Over-extraction of groundwater
● Pollution & agricultural runoff
● Deforestation & climate change impacts
Research shows that:
Nearly 35.6% of Sri Lanka’s population faces water scarcity, particularly in the
dry zone — where freshwater resources continue to deplete and communities
struggle daily for safe drinking water.

In many of these areas, families walk long distances to collect unsafe water — leading to
disease, economic hardship, and long-term health risks.
Every drop of clean water changes a life.
Through the Water for All – Sri Lanka initiative, Yarah Charity works to deliver sustainable
and life-changing water solutions to underserved communities across the island.
We support communities through:
● Safe drinking water wells
● Tube wells & hand-pump systems
● Gravity-flow & pipeline water access
● Rainwater harvesting systems
● Community water stations
● School & village sanitation facilities (WASH)
Our projects focus on:
● Families in drought-prone regions
● Low-income and rural communities
● Schools & children facing sanitation challenges
● Communities affected by disaster & climate conditions
Clean water strengthens health, supports education, improves livelihoods, and empowers communities to thrive.
Yarah Charity prioritizes long-term, community-focused solutions including:
● Solar-powered water systems
● Deep wells for drought-affected regions
● Rainwater harvesting for dry-zone households
● Sanitation & hygiene awareness (WASH)
Each project is assessed for:
● Sustainability
● Community accessibility
● Environmental responsibility
● Local engagement & maintenance support
We work hand-in-hand with communities to ensure lasting impact.
